Buy and Hire for Printing and Publishing Intelligence Firm

March 5 2007

Printing and publishing industry analyst WhatTheyThink.com has acquired the assets of Global Forecast Group (GFG), a research and economic analyst firm based in Harrisville, Rhode Island; and appointed its principal, Dr. Joe Webb, as its Director of Economics and Research.

Assets purchased include the firm's library of research data, industry distribution and contact databases, and the PrintForecast.com web site, newsletter, and distribution list. Dr. Webb will head up WhatTheyThink's new Economic and Research Center (ERC), which offers a mix of free and premium content to graphic arts and publishing executives.

Webb is a Ph.D. graduate of the New York University Center for Graphic Communications Management and Technology, with an MBA in Management Information Systems. After working in marketing for Agfa-Gevaert, he moved to Chemco Photoproducts in 1981 as its first market research analyst, leaving the company in 1987 as its Director of Marketing. In 1987, he assumed the consulting practice of Harrie F. Lewis, leaving in 1994 to form TrendWatch, which was sold to international publisher Reed Elsevier in 2000. He first wrote a column for WhatTheyThink.com in 2003.

WhatTheyThink.com President and CEO Randy Davidson says Webb is 'known for his objective discussion of industry trends and direction' and adds that his appointment 'will enable us to offer a new range of services to our subscribers, advertisers, and the industry at large.'

WhatTheyThink.com serves a membership base of more than 55,000 with products including market intelligence, industry news, economic and trend analysis, and is online at www.WhatTheyThink.com .

MrWeb and DRNO wish Dr Webb the very best in his new role...
