Research Orgs to Cohabit in New D.C. Office

March 23 2007

US MR associations CMOR and the MRA have opened an additional office in Washington, D.C. The move will enhance collaboration between the two to promote training, education, government relations and the image and reputation of the industry.

Even in the age of rapid communications, location at the heart of US politics has obvious advantages, as a thousand DC-based lobbyists and PR firms bear witness. Donna Gillin, Director of Operations at CMOR, says her organisation's government affairs staff 'can readily storm the Hill at a moment's notice when legislation arises that could adversely impact the survey research profession'.

The strengthening of collaboration between the two will be seen as a positive step given the relative fragmentation of the USA's research bodies. Gillin comments: 'Working with MRA, while representing many groups in our field will lead to better opportunities for the entire industry, add value to our programs and services and enrich the lives of many in the survey research field.'

MRA Treasurer Jon Last of The Golf Digest Publications explains: 'Modern Associations need to have multiple locations to meet the needs of different constituencies in today's world. Our new office location in Washington, D.C. will allow MRA and CMOR to take the lead in advancing survey research issues into the spotlight.'

The Headquarters expansion will be located downtown at 1111 16th Street, in northwest Washington.

CMOR (The Council for Marketing and Opinion Research) comprises more than 150 organizations and members, including industry trade associations, research providers, end users or client companies, academic institutions and individuals. The MRA (Marketing Research Association) is the largest US association of the opinion and marketing research profession, established in 1957. Web sites for the two are at www.mra-net.org and www.cmor.org .
