BBC Reviews Quant Roster

March 29 2007

The BBC is inviting submissions for its new Quantitative and Tracking Roster, a shortlist of agencies which can then bid for projects including ad hoc quant surveys and some major tracking studies. The Pulse contract, currently with GfK but due to expire in March 2008, will also be included in the current tender.

The Corporation says it wants to find agencies that can 'think beyond the obvious and look to new research approaches in parallel with more traditional techniques'.

Pulse gauges public reaction to BBC services and programmes across TV, Radio and online using quantifiable and efficient methodology. The broadcaster says it is 'keen to continue with an internet-based service for the benefits of speed, flexibility and cost effectiveness'.

Head of Audience Measurement Jo Hamilton says agencies should demonstrate a real understanding of the need for fast and effective solutions. 'The media industry is extremely dynamic. The way people consume media, attitudes and expectations are changing all of the time. It's vital that we have a mix of agencies that can offer a wide range of services to suit the market and the changing needs of the audience.'

Agencies wishing to apply can do so via www.bbc.co.uk/supplying/tenders/quantitativeresearch.shtml . The deadline for applications is 16th April 2007.
