Outsell Keeps Wary Eye on Google

April 11 2007

Media and information industry advisory firm Outsell, Inc. has launched an annual subscription service focused exclusively on Google and the 'threat' it poses to the publishing and information industry.

The service has been developed in collaboration with industry expert and technologist Stephen E. Arnold, together with a dedicated team of analysts. A report out now, Google The Threat to Media and Information, claims to 'help information companies understand the impact of Google, its technology and where the organization is headed, and take early action to remain competitive.'

Outsell CEO and co-founder Anthea Stratigos comments: 'Google has not only changed the shape of the information industry, but has a very publicly stated goal of becoming a $100 billion company. Understanding their technology and how they can use it to achieve growth of this magnitude is essential for publishers and information providers who face competition on multiple levels.'

The report includes views on 'Google's potential to disrupt six major industries', in addition to a review of the firm's business goals and specific patent activity relevant to publishing, an analysis of its technical infrastructure, possible areas where it 'could go wrong' and recommended actions 'to help information companies continue to thrive'.

Outsell has headquarters in Burlingame, CA and a UK subsidiary in London, EPS. It is online at www.outsellinc.com .
