Senior Promotions and Departure at IDC

May 21 2007

IDC has promoted three execs, Vernon Turner, Henry Morris and Ralph Finos, to Senior Vice President level, serving on its executive management group. Meanwhile Senior VP Crawford Del Prete is leaving the technology analyst to join TNS.

Turner will continue to oversee IDC's Enterprise Computing Research, within which he has worked since 1999. In his new role, he will also manage IDC's Telecoms, Mobility, Client Computing, Consumer Markets, and Imaging & Output Research, as well as Worldwide Tracker Products. He worked previously as VP for Technology Services at State Street Bank, and in a similar role at Fidelity Investments. He has an MBA from Babson College and a degree in Computer Science from the UK's Oxford Polytechnic.

Morris, who currently manages IDC's Integration, Development & Applications Strategies (IDeAS) Solutions Research, will add responsibility for managing IDC's Services Research. He joined the firm in 1995, prior to which he worked in a variety of technical and management positions at Digital Equipment Corporation. He holds a Ph.D in philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania.

Finos, a 21-year veteran of IDC, will continue to manage its Worldwide Consulting business. An expert in enterprise servers, scientific computing, and the business value of computing, he earned his Ph.D in applied research and evaluation from Hofstra University.

The three new SVPs will report directly to President & CEO Kirk Campbell, who says their promotion will ensure IDC maintains a 'balanced and comprehensive view of the industry'. He adds: 'IDC now has a great leadership team in place to lead the company's growth over the next decade and to advise our clients on strategic directions in the evolving IT landscape.'

Del Prete, who was Senior Vice President for Communications, Hardware, Software, and Services Research, will leave effective June 1st to join TNS as President, Client Services for the company's U.S. business. Campbell comments: 'Crawford has been a significant contributor to the success of IDC as well as IDC's clients over the years. IDC would like to thank him for his many accomplishments and wishes him well in his future career.'
