SEM Firm Hires Chief Scientist

US search engine marketing (SEM) firm Adverplex has appointed Dr Philip Klein as Chief Scientist, tasked with directing its research programme.

As a member of the firm's management team, Klein will have specific responsibility for research and development in the areas of algorithms, optimisation and probabilistic analysis.

He was previously a Visiting Scholar at the Princeton University Department of Computer Science and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Department of Mathematics, and was also a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University.

Klein has consulted and worked with Xerox PARC, NEC Research Institute, BBN and AT&T Labs, has been a recipient of multiple grants from the National Science Foundation, and has received numerous research, teaching and corporate awards. Klein has a PhD in Computer Science from MIT and graduated from Harvard with an A.B. in Applied Mathematics.

Commenting on the appointment, President and CEO Micah Adler said: 'Phil's vision and renowned expertise will enable us to further accelerate and broaden our research on the optimisation of search engine marketing.'

Massachusetts-based Adverplex was founded in 2005 to provide SEM solutions to streamline and optimise large-scale pay-per-click campaign management involving millions of keywords. The firm now has 25 staff and is online at www.adverplex.com .
