Launches Promise BI Verification and Mobility

July 9 2007

Business intelligence (BI) software firm MicroStrategy has announced launches for two products, one delivering BI information directly to BlackBerry smartphones and the other testing the accuracy of BI applications by validating data and report integrity.

Both products will be introduced at this week's MicroStrategy Symposium in London.

The first, MicroStrategy Mobile, aims to give business users the same reports on their BlackBerry as they receive on their desktop, without the need for reformatting or retrofitting. The product is designed to work cooperatively with other BlackBerry applications, including phone, e-mail, and text messages.

As examples, the firm says the product might be used by a retail buyer to access merchandise sales data and support purchasing and inventory discussions with store managers; by a pharmaceutical salesperson to review market share reports, prescription sales, and inventory data to prepare for sales calls; or by a marketing executive looking to evaluate the latest campaign analytics while meeting with an advertising agency to discuss future spend.

The second product, MicroStrategy Integrity Manager, automatically compares and verifies the consistency of reports as changes are made to the BI ecosystem, and then highlights issues and discrepancies to monitor the overall reliability of the BI content used by business decision makers. It should guard against data or software integrity problems during loads and upgrades, help to validate user-generated reports and avoid discrepancies creeping in when migrating projects between systems or environments. The firm says the automated system will free developers to focus on content creation rather than manual testing.

Both products are currently in beta-testing and are expected to be generally available in the second half of 2007, as part of the MicroStrategy 8.1.1 release.

Founded in 1989, the firm is online at www.microstrategy.com.
