Nielsen Launches 'Out Of Stock' Tool

July 13 2007

Nielsen owned analytical software firm Decisions Made Easy (DME) has released a software tool that enables consumer goods manufacturers to pull data directly from retailers to help them manage in-store product availability.

The tool addresses availability at retail store level. By integrating point-of-sale data, store inventory orders, distribution centre data, shipments and forecast data, analysis is then provided through Cipher - a software package designed to help FMCG suppliers analyse store level data.

The firm says that in the US 'out-of-stocks' are costing consumer goods firms between $6 and $20 billion each year.

Commented Wayne Rigney, CEO DME. 'Our solution enables CG companies to quickly get to the heart of critical information in massive amounts of data. Providing suppliers with this level of control over availability will lead to lower inventory and fewer out-of-stock situations, resulting in lower costs and increased sales.'

Launched in1987, the firm is dedicated to helping suppliers of FMCG goods manage, analyse, present and action their sales and supply chain data. In March, DME launched 'Nielsen Complete Coverage' to provide analysis of markets and category performance (www.mrweb.com/drno/news6612.htm ). With offices in the UK, US, France and Australia, the company's web site address is www.decisions-made-easy.com.
