Wrestlers Recover from Half-Nielsen

August 6 2007

Nielsen Media Research has blamed technical problems for underreporting of ratings for the USA Network for five days last week, including WWE wrestling program 'Raw'; and says the system is now functioning normally again.

On Friday a Nielsen spokeswoman said that an 'equipment issue' was to blame for the problems, which showed abnormally small numbers for the USA Network from July 28th to August 1st, including a tumble from a 3.4 household rating to a 2.5 rating for last week's episode of 'Raw'.

Nielsen said the problem had only affected the one network and had been corrected on Thursday, and that the company was 'looking into a way to recover the information' from the five missing days.

Last week the agency, which is online at www.nielsenmedia.com , announced that it had uncovered errors in its print ad spend data for South Africa (www.mrweb.com/drno/news7109.htm ).
