Language Specialist to Advise Biz360

US-based Biz360 has hired natural language processing (NLP) specialist Christopher Manning. His expertise will help the media and market intelligence agency to create new applications for analysing traditional and social media content on the web.

Christopher ManningManning is regarded as an authority in the NLP arena - which involves the development of automated technology systems that intelligently process human languages. In his new role, he will work alongside the firm's product developers to deliver products and services which improve marketers' understanding of media and consumer feedback.

Explained CEO Brad Brodigan: 'Marketers need to better understand the impact of online media and consumer feedback on their company, products and competitors. Christopher's pioneering work in the development of technology to enable this has been pivotal and will be invaluable to our company.'

Australian-born Manning is co-author of Foundations of Statistical Natural Language Processing. He currently serves as Associate Professor of Computer Science and Linguistics and leads The Stanford NLP Group at Stanford University. With a BA (Hons) in Mathematics, Computer Science and Linguistics from Australian National University and a PhD in Linguistics from Stanford, Manning has also held academic posts on the Carnegie Mellon University Computational Linguistics Programme and at the University of Sydney Department of Linguistics.
