Lexalytics Launches Data Conversion Tool

October 31 2007

Text analytics and social media monitoring firm Lexalytics has released Analytics Toolkit 1.0 (ATK), which pulls raw data from content sources to enable production of graphs and charts for use in presentations.

The firm says the new system can be added to Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel or PowerPoint. Chief Technology Officer Mike Marshall explained: 'This technology will save users a lot of time and resources previously used pasting together information from various sources to create a useful graph.'

The firm says that anyone with a content feed - such as RSS or Newsfeed - can also create ATK widgets that can be integrated directly into their reports. These are created by the user and can be used to track the tone of a client's product or brand. Specific themes or categories can also be automatically detected and tracked, and with the 'click of a button' a widget can retrieve the latest data and create a new graph or chart.

CEO Jeff Catlin said that the product had been developed in response to clients who had been asking for an easy way to take the sentiment and category information created by the company's Text Analytics Suite and insert it in their presentations.

The firm recently upgraded its Salience Engine product, which gauges the 'sentiment and tone' of blogs to help customers understand what's being said about them and their competitors (www.mrweb.com/drno/news7465.htm ).

Massachusetts-based Lexalytics was founded in 2004 and is online at www.lexalytics.com.
