US Call Center Closes Quietly

Research Data Design (RDD) has closed its Fort Collins, Colorado CATI-equipped call center. The firm moved out of the location, which employed 115 people, at the weekend.

RDD took a seven-year lease on the Fort Collins offices in 2006, and planned to employ up to 250 staff there. At the time, CEO John Stapleton said he expected the office to eventually have three rotating shifts and be used as a training hub for its Oregon headquarters and other sites in New Mexico and Montana. Stapleton said in a statement that the location had been selected because of its talented employee pool and quality lifestyle, commenting: 'The community offers us a great deal of qualified associates for our business.'

A spokesman for the Colorado Department of Labour and Employment confirmed the company's departure, citing economic downturn as the reason for the closure. Stapleton was not available for comment at the time of publication.

RDD was founded in 1994 to offer data collection services for business, consumer and multilingual studies. In March, the company announced plans to hire an additional 100 staff at its Las Crucens, NM call centre. Web site: www.rdd.info.
