June 3 2008

Nielsen and rival consumer analytics firm Information Resources Inc (IRI) have both announced major contracts with consumer giants. IRI says it has ousted Nielsen from a UK contract they formerly shared, with P&G; Nielsen says it has signed a global contract with the Coca-Cola Company.

IRI's Jeremy McNamaraCPG, retail, and healthcare intelligence provider IRI signed a multi-year contract with Procter & Gamble to supply market tracking, customer specific data and insight services for the UK market - IRI will now be the sole supplier of these services.

Karen Penn, WE Market Measurements Leader from Procter & Gamble, comments: 'Over the years, we have developed a strong partnership with IRI enabling them to support our business with actionable information & insights to allow us to drive growth and deliver consumer value. Going forward we are looking towards the holistic approach IRI will provide in servicing our UK organisation with their partnership with Europanel as well as the new technological capabilities they offer'.

According to Jeremy McNamara, IRI's Regional MD of Northern Europe, the decision is 'extremely important for IRI UK because it further enhances our reputation as the business partner of choice for innovative and strategic clients such as P&G. It is a compliment that reflects our passion for delivering against our commitments and adding value to our clients' businesses.' IRI President Nigel Howlett says the deal is 'proof that we have the edge when it comes to driving a step change in clients' business performance.'

P&G has 138,000 employees working in over 80 countries worldwide and is online at www.pg.com , while IRI is at www.infores.com .

The Nielsen Company's global agreement with The Coca-Cola Company extends the companies' 70-year relationship and enables it to provide integrated services to the drinks giant in more than 70 countries. Nielsen will provide Coca-Cola with a comprehensive and integrated portfolio of services, including information and insights on consumer purchase behavior and targeting, product movement, pricing strategy, media spending, television ratings, as well as advanced analytical tools, cross-country reporting, customized research and Nielsen Answers, for which a new Retail Edition is launched today.

John Lewis, President and CEO, Nielsen Consumer Group, North America says the new deal 'lays the foundation for our two companies to build upon an already solid strategic relationship that spans the globe' while Coca-Cola's Mark Greatrex, Senior Vice President, Still Beverages, enthuses: 'At Coca-Cola, we benefit from increased productivity, improved market insights and cost savings as we continue to grow our business.
