TubeMogul Launches Video Forecast Tool

June 23 2008

Online video analytics firm TubeMogul has released a tool which promises to help video creators and publishers to predict the number of views their productions will attract.

TubeMogul was founded in 2006 to offer video producers independent information about video performance on the Internet and advice on how to deploy their work on the web's video sharing sites. Last fall, David Toth, Co-Founder of NetRatings, joined the company's Board of Directors.

Using the new system, the firm tracked data for nearly 11,000 videos over a 90-day time period and found that video viewership has a short 'shelf life', with half (50%) of a video's total views occurring in the first two weeks and the viewing peak taking place on day three.

'What's especially exciting about this research is that we are giving content creators a viable tool to predict their future views,' comments CEO and Co-Founder Brett Wilson. 'While there are countless stories about random videos going viral, the data reveals this as a rare phenomenon.'
