Fingerprinting Patent for Media Monitors

US broadcast monitoring and verification service Media Monitors has been granted a patent for fingerprinting technology used to analyse audio samples.

Media Monitors provides radio spot monitoring and newspaper ad tracking for broadcasters, newspapers, media research firms and ad agencies, and also conducts custom research projects. In January, former Arbitron SVPScott Musgrave joined the company.

The new method analyses retrieved audio samples using a patented algorithm to enable the firm to identify additional occurrences of the material, helping the firm to process millions of pieces of data and deliver an accurate picture of what has been aired on radio, TV and cable TV.
