TNS Adds Two to BARB Contract

In the UK, TNS has promoted two execs to lead its new contracts for broadcasting research body BARB: Chris Balch becomes MD of the new BARB Service Team within TNS Media Research, while Graeme Griffiths takes on the role of Services Director for TNS Custom Media.

Chris Balch and Graeme GriffithsIn December, the firm won the BARB (Broadcasters Audience Research Board) contracts to recruit, install, manage and maintain a 5,100 home meter panel.

In his new post, Balch and his team of 90 staff will be responsible for the implementation and execution of the panel, as well as overseeing reporting and meter panel operations.

He moves across from TNS Worldpanel UK where he was Director of Operations. During his 11 year tenure in this position, he was responsible for ensuring his team met database delivery commitments for more than 300 clients, and maintaining high standards of data quality and a cost budget of £10m.

Griffiths joined TNS in 2000 as a Senior Researcher, and in 2005, he won the MRS Best Newcomer Award for his work on the BBC Daily Life Study. He is leaving his current position as Managing Consultant to take up the new post, where will be responsible for overseeing recruitment to the new BARB panel in the UK.

Balch and Griffiths will be working towards the goal of delivering a reporting panel by 1 April 2009, and both will report to the TNS BARB Management Board, which comprises Jennie Beck, John Gill and Richard Marks, Global Head of TNS Media Research.
