TNS Gallup Unveils Mobile Internet Tool in Norway

August 19 2008

TNS Gallup, in partnership with industry body the Norwegian Media Businesses' Association, is launching a new tool to measure usage of the mobile Internet in Norway.

The tool, under the TNS Mobile brand, will produce 'traffic reports' using technology designed by mobile web company Mobiletech - this will collect raw data which TNS Gallup will then use to analyse and produce the reports.

In addition, the research firm has introduced a common currency to measure user behaviour across all participating mobile Internet sites. Data, which is collected from both handsets and the operators' own network systems, will measure the actual content accessed by users.

'The mobile phone is becoming an increasingly important tool to access the Internet,' commented Gudbrand Jevne, General Manger of TNS Gallup, who calls the launch 'a high quality solution in response to demand from the market.'

The agreement commenced last month and the first results will be published online early September 2008.

TNS Gallup is a full service market research company specialising in brand tracking, media research, customer satisfaction and staff motivation.

In May, comScore acquired mobile measurement firm M:Metrics in a deal to make it 'the immediate leader in measuring the emerging and strategically important mobile Internet market'.
