Northern Light Adds Government Contract Service

Research portal provider Northern Light has launched a new service to help companies identify sales opportunities with federal, state and local governments throughout the US.

The new 'SinglePoint Government Opportunities Edition' lists government contract announcements, reports and news stories gathered from government procurement research sources.

The platform provides a search index of targeted government RFIs, RFPs and contract awards, along with 85,000 reports from 20 IT market research firms such as Datamonitor, Forrester and Frost and Sullivan. In addition, each day 20,000 articles are uploaded to the portal from 6,000 Northern Light Business News sources such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post.

When subscribers find opportunities or documents they wish to read, they can click directly to the opportunity and associated research at the provider's site, or to the document on the publication's site if the desired material is from Northern Light Business News.

'The Federal Government alone represents a single customer comprising 20% of the US economy,' stated CEO C. David Seuss. 'Yet most companies have almost no visibility into the RFI, RFP, contracting, and sub-contracting sales opportunities that they could be pursuing. Our new solution addresses this, surfacing opportunities that can be acted on immediately.'

The new system features MI Analyst - an automated 'meaning extraction' tool designed for market intelligence, market research and product research - which the firm says speeds and improves a researcher's ability to analyze reports; and SinglePoint Connects, a series of Web 2.0 capabilities that enable users to annotate and share documents within the portal environment.
