Radio Firm Debuts PPM-Based Service
August 21 2008

In the US, broadcaster Radio One Houston has launched a new scheduling and ratings verification system, which will merge Arbitron’s Portable People Meter (PPM) data with ad schedules to provide ratings data based on schedule delivery.

The company says that its new ACCOUNTABILITYONE system will allow advertisers to monitor their schedules on a weekly basis, and compare the scheduled cost per point against the negotiated cost per point on a day part basis. Advertisers will receive a monthly accountability statement after each PPM ratings period.

‘Radio One has been a leader in harnessing the power of PPM data to better serve the African-American audience through its two top-ranked urban stations in Houston,’ commented Arbitron's President of Sales and Marketing, Pierre Bouvard. ‘Today, Radio One has recognized that the PPM is a powerful tool for enhancing the accountability of radio by delivering timely and reliable proof of performance reports that advertisers are demanding for all their media buys.’

Radio One Houston said in a statement that it believes the tool will become the new industry standard.

Last month, Arbitron unveiled its new PPM sample program, which aims to increase sample sizes prior to roll out of its delayed service this September.
