Cable Firm Recruits Panel

Dutch cable operator Ziggo is recruiting for what it claims will be one of the largest consumer panels in the Netherlands, with members offering opinions about its existing products and services, and providing input on future product development.

Ziggo serves approximately 3.3 million households, of which 1.4 million are broadband Internet customers, 1 million are digital TV customers, and 750,000 are telephony subscribers.

Since testing the panel concept with a sample of 1,000 subscribers earlier in the year, the firm has added a further 9,000 subscribers. Recruitment of a total of 20,000 panellists is now taking place as a representative sample of the total population.

'At the moment we receive intelligence through market research,' said Marcel Nijhoff, Director of Sales & Marketing. 'With the new panel, we want to encourage a more active exchange of information and ideas so that customers can determine how our products and services look. In addition, the panel is a perfect test environment for new products and services.'
