gsi Hires Usability Chief to Expand Offer

September 17 2008

In the US, gsi interactive has appointed Michael Summers as Senior Director of Usability, responsible for building and leading the usability practice. His role includes developing user research service offerings and leading gsi interactive's eyetracking lab.

gsi interactive is the full-service interactive marketing agency of GSI Commerce, which provides e-commerce and multichannel solutions to retailers.

Prior to joining, Summers held key user research roles at the Nielsen Norman Group, Scient, and USWeb/CKS. Most recently, he set up his own user research consultancy, SUMMERS Consulting, through which he conducted studies throughout the US, Europe, and Asia. He holds an MA from Syracuse University.

He will report directly to Nick Pahade, President of gsi interactive, who says that the firm is fortunate to add such a strong leader and industry expert to its team.

'gsi interactive has made a major investment by constructing a sophisticated lab with the latest eyetracking and remote testing technologies. Instead of imagining what users say and do, we'll be observing real people and making decisions based on data - not assumptions,' adds Summers.

Yesterday in the UK, user experience consultancy User Vision launched its new 'Interactive Lounge', which it describes as the first fully comprehensive multi-media testing lab with eye tracking.
