TM Forum Launches Trends Analysis Research Arm

September 18 2008

TM Forum - a trade body focused on the online information, communications and entertainment industries - has launched a new market research division to offer global market analysis of trends in the telecoms, cable, media and Internet sectors.

The body, which has around 700 member companies in more than 75 countries, provides leadership, strategic guidance and practical solutions to improve the way that its members' services are created, delivered and charged.

Its new TM Forum Insights service will offer qual and quant market and technology trend reports, thought leadership pieces, vendor and service provider profiles, and event analysis.

The initiative is headed by former Yankee Group Executive VP MD Rob Rich who joins with more than 15 years' experience in market research management and consulting roles. He previously spent 11 years as EVP of Communications & Networking Research & Consulting for the Yankee Group, and two years as Director of Communications Equipment and Services at Dataquest, a research firm subsequently acquired by Gartner Group.

In his new role, he is supported by ex-Yankee Group colleague Paul Hughes and former IDC/Stratecast Senior Research Analyst Shira Levine. Hughes spent more than 10 years with Yankee Group, where he was VP of Enabling Technologies Research.

Rich comments on the launch: 'We believe that TM Forum Insights, backed by the Forum's unparalleled resources, is uniquely positioned to offer a global market analysis service. We plan to provide our clients with actionable recommendations to support new service creation, delivery and monetization, end-to-end, across complex value chains.'
