Timely Launch for Interest Group

September 30 2008

With political polls currently ubiquitous in the US media, the Qualitative Research Consultants Association (QRCA) has formed a Political Special Interest Group (SIG).

The group aims to give practitioners in the relevant sphere access to experts and best practices, and will address qualitative research issues and opportunities in politics, public policy, social policy, and public affairs.

The Political SIG is the latest launched by QRCA, and joins the Ethnography, Latino, Pharma/Healthcare and Online SIGs.

QRCA member and SIG founder Rick Weitzer explains the rationale behind political qual: 'We all hear poll numbers every day, and they are useful. But poll numbers don't explain the feelings and emotions that drive political decision-making and voting behavior. The various forms of qualitative research provide the 'deep dive' into voters' opinions that are enormously useful in the political arena.'

The not-for profit organisation offers access to nearly 1,000 qualitative research consultants throughout the world, including focus group moderators, facilitators, interviewers, and planners in many types of qualitative research. Web site: www.qrca.com .
