Pearl Medical Folds

November 19 2008

In the UK, healthcare panel firm Pearl Medical has ceased trading, after being unable to raise the short-term financing required to continue operations.

The Berkshire-based firm, which was to have been acquired by healthcare and pharma full service agency Opinion Health, has announced the closure on its web site.

Pearl Medical was launched in January 2006 to offer a communications channel for health professionals, as well as incentives for them to complete regular online surveys through BlackBerry mobile technology. The company had around 2,000 GPs on its panel, and was aiming to recruit a further 8,000.

Last week, staff were working with the administrators to facilitate continuation of the service, but today, the firm announced that Orange, one of the airtime providers, will not be contacting members regarding this.
