Seven Jobs Go at RadioCentre

December 8 2008

In the UK, commercial radio trade body RadioCentre is cutting seven of its thirty-five staff, in response to the economic climate. Departures include members of the organsiation's recently formed Insight Team.

The seven have taken voluntary redundancy after an internal cost-cutting process in November. They include Head of Audience Insight Alison Winter, who was promoted to the role when the Insight Team, headed by former Radio Advisory Bureau Planning Director Mark Barber, was formed in January.

Martina King, non-executive Chairman of RadioCentre division the Radio Advertising Bureau, will step down and her role will be added to the remit of RadioCentre CEO Andrew Harrison.

A spokesperson for the organisation confirmed the staff had taken voluntary redundancy and commented: 'RadioCentre continues to have a critical industry role especially in marketing our medium to advertisers, clearing advertisements and being the voice of Commercial Radio in our external relations with government, regulators and other stakeholders. However, it is right that RadioCentre should adapt itself to the changing needs of the industry it represents.'

RadioCentre formed in July 2006 from the merger of the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) and the Commercial Radio Companies Association (CRCA). Its members consist of UK commercial radio stations who fund the organisation. Web site: www.radiocentre.org .
