WebTrends Makes IBM Portal Deal

March 2 2009

Traffic analysis firm WebTrends has announced a partnership with IBM, integrating its collection and analysis of visitor behavior data into the computing giant's WebSphere Portal software and creating a closed-loop content performance management solution.

IBM's portal software will now pass relevant portal output to WebTrends' SmartSource Data Collection Server, aiding marketing decisions and allowing users to build WebTrends performance data into WebSphere Portal's optimization processes.

Ultimately, the deal should lead to a system where users can simply select a WebTrends analytics package within WebSphere Portal to start the transfer of data, removing the current need for tagging of sites.

James McDermott, VP Partners at WebTrends comments: 'More and more of our customers have come to expect better analytics performance with the portals they use internally, to gauge performance management and drive marketing and business objectives.' According to Larry Bowden, VP, IBM Portals and Mashups, the partnership is 'a big leap forward in incorporating analytics data with a single view.'

Web sites are at www.webtrends.com and www.ibm.com/websphere/portal .
