Arbitron Hire Completes New Trio

April 20 2009

Arbitron has appointed Taher G. Behbehani to the newly-created position of EVP, Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer, reporting to President and CEO Michael Skarzynski.

The move completes the hires announced at the end of February as part of a shake-up designed to facilitate effective decision-making. The first two EVP positions, Chief Marketing Officer and Customer Solutions, were filled three weeks ago.

Behbehani, 47, will work at Arbitron's headquarters in Columbia, Maryland and says his role is to extend the firm's PPM platform into multimedia markets. 'Arbitron has a solid, patent-protected platform technology for personal, portable and passive electronic measurement and my goal is to help the company create balanced business expansion strategies that will make the most of its technology and capital assets.'

He brings to the role more than 20 years of experience in operations, general management and business development at cable television and technology companies. Most recently, he was VP, Business Affairs at Time Warner Cable Inc., establishing partnerships with leading web search and display advertising companies, and leading negotiations in the fields of video delivery, advanced advertising, wireless, and Internet services.

His experience in the international telecom and high tech industries includes the planning and execution of expansion strategies for companies including 3Com Corporation, SourceFire Inc. and UTStarcom Inc. He has also started several companies in the online web services, telecom and wireless industries. He holds a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from Yale, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Skarzynski comments: 'Taher has been instrumental in the development of partnerships and joint ventures with some of the world's leading wireless, Internet and multimedia companies and we anticipate significant contributions from his insights into the industry.'
