Harris Hires Scionti to Drive Tech Strategy

April 28 2009

In the US, Harris Interactive has appointed former industry tech specialist Richard Scionti as Global Chief Technology Officer, responsible for process automation and solutions development, as well as leading the firm's efforts in the social media space.

Scionti joins from TNS North America where he was Senior Vice President of Solutions Services, in charge of software development. Prior to this, he was VP of GMI's Global Enterprise Solutions Group; founded research information management consultancy Timbre Consulting; was VP of Marketing and Product Management at SPSS; and served as Worldwide Chief Information Officer at Research International (RI) in London. In this role, he was a member of RI's European Executive Committee and of parent firm WPP's CIO Council.

'Richard is a well respected leader of technology innovation with a strong track record of success in streamlining and automating processes and creating innovative solutions for clients,' said President and CEO, Kimberly Till. 'I have worked with Richard before and am very impressed by the depth of his knowledge and expertise as well as his ability to deliver on key initiatives.'

Till added that Scionti is one of several new hires who bring technology knowledge coupled with market research experience, to support the delivery of the firm's strategic plan.

Since last October, the firm has made around 170 staff redundant in a bid to make $10m in cost savings. At the time, Till explained that these headcount reductions were partly driven by the firm's new structure, designed to meet client requirements more efficiently. 'We are putting the right people in the right places to make sure we can successfully implement our strategy,' she stated.
