May 21 2009

US broadcast and cable tracking firm Media Monitors has opened an office in London, from which it will provide radio stations, advertisers and agencies with same-day online reports.

Ben HartThe firm tracks radio commercials and newspaper ads, and provides sales and marketing tools for broadcast TV, cable, media research firms and ad agencies.

Media Monitors will first launch in London, before rolling out to major media markets across the UK. It has been testing its systems and gathering pre-launch data for several months, and the new UK service will also include song data for every station monitored.

Ben Hart, UK MD of parent firm RCS will head up the new office and comments: 'Access to this data is critical to media firms which often base advertising strategies on competitive actions. Receiving same-day data from Media Monitors means sales decisions can be made faster and with very current information.'

President/CEO Philippe Generali commented: 'Media Monitors will provide the local sales staff with competitive information not available in the market presently. We look forward to seeing the way the broadcasters, agencies and clients use the information to boost sales in the UK.'

Media Monitoring's 'Audience Reaction' technology combines listener instant reaction data from Arbitron's PPM with its own airplay information.
