BIG 2002 Business Futures Conference

December 24 2001

The 2002 annual BIG Conference returns to the popular Marriott St Pierre in Chepstow on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th May. The theme is 'Business Futures'.

Aimed at both agency and client-side professionals in business-to-business marketing and research around the world, this latest BIG event offers a top quality programme of speeches and workshops. Included in the conference element are two eminent keynote speakers: Peter Murley (opening the conference with a talk on talk 'CRM - a load of twaddle?') and Professor Leslie de Chernatony ( giving the keynote Day 2 speech on 'How can market researchers play a more strategic role in brand building?')

Peter is the founder director of Customer Service Partners (CSP), a consultancy specialising in Customer Service and Service & Customer interaction strategy and systems. Leslie is Professor of Brand Marketing and Director of the Centre for Research in Brand Marketing at the Birmingham University Business School

The full programme itself comprises five formal sessions of papers spanning a wide range of different research sectors. These papers are being presented by both clients and well-known researchers, such as Nicky Perrott and Frances Hoskin, In addition, BIG are hoping that there will also be papers given by business schools (Cranfield) and by key suppliers to the research industry, such as Experian. Some of the topics scheduled for discussion are:

  • Using bulletin board focus groups.
  • How to get non-responders to respond.
  • Time use patterns of the self-employed, homeworkers and small businesses.
  • The role of corporate social responsibility for B2B brands.
  • Satisfying global clients' needs locally.
  • How to develop as a business-to-business researcher.

The event also includes a set of four workshops running alongside the speeches. Three will be held on Thursday afternoon (on the subjects of Presentation Skills, Information Security Management and Whither Market Research?) with the final one to be given on Friday afternoon (Non-Verbal Communication Skills).

For all those interested, conference booking forms will be circulated in January and can also be accessed from the BIG website: www.b2bresearch.org
