Record Annual Results for ORC

February 26 2002

Opinion Research Corporation (ORC) has recently reported its results for the year ending December 31, 2001. Over these 12 months, ORC achieved record revenues, registering a final total of $177 million, a 10% performance rise year on year (i.e. from $161 million for the year 2000).

The company's fourth quarter 2001 results have shown a similar rise, totalling $8.8 million compared to $11.6 million in 2000. Net income for the year was $1.6 million and earnings per share were $0.27 compared to $3.3 million and $0.65, respectively, in 2000.

For the fourth quarter of 2001, revenues were $44 million, compared to $43.7 million in the fourth quarter of 2000. Operating income for the quarter was $1.8 million, compared to $3.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2000. Net income for the fourth quarter was $188,000 and earnings per share were $0.03, compared to $909,000 and $0.16, respectively, in the fourth quarter of 2000.

According to John F. Short, chairman and chief executive officer of Opinion Research Corporation, 'Both the weak global economy and the disruptive nature of the events of this past Fall created a difficult backdrop for the second half of the year. We believe that these events are short-term in nature and we have taken action to better prepare the organisation for renewed growth this year and beyond. I am particularly pleased with the excellent job of our many dedicated employees and their ability to continue the company's record of revenue growth during these difficult conditions.'
