MORI Just Keeps on Growing

March 27 2002

MORI was the fastest growing top ten market research agency in 2001, for the second year running, according to figures just released by the BMRA (British Market Research Association).

MORI's turnover grew by 26 per cent in 2001, following 27 per cent growth in 2000.
The market research industry grew by an average of 7 per cent in 2001.

'Our strong performance is a testament to the dedication of our staff and their focus on the needs of our clients,' said Brian Gosschalk, MORI's Chief Executive. 'MORI has continued to expand by offering outstanding levels of service and value to our clients. This principle remains core to our approach.'

MORI's performance has been underpinned by a number of structural changes to the business. A management buy-out in 2000 gave MORI staff a majority shareholding in the company. 3i, which has held an equity stake in the business since the mid-1980's, increased its holding from 25 per cent to 42 per cent.

The top management of the company was strengthened in 2001 with a number of key appointments including Mike Everett to Managing Director, John Searle to Group Finance Director and Elsie Akinsanya to Human Resources Director. Just this week, Jim Rose, a previous CEO of United Information Group, joined MORI's Board of Directors as a non-executive director, replacing Sir Denys Henderson, former chairman of ICI who is retiring.
