Socrates Interview Engine Launched

May 13 2002

Reflexions Communication Research has launched a new interview engine capable of 'chat room' style conversation over the Internet. The system is specifically designed to collect qualitative data from interviewees online.

Christened Socrates, the new system is believed to be the first of its kind. As opposed to traditional Internet-based research, Socrates can introduce and probe on a range of topics pre-programmed for discussion. It will also drill more deeply into any ideas introduced by the respondent during a conversation. This is achieved through an online interview/conversation complete with closed and open questions.

Reflexions already offers interview analysis using Aristotle, its exclusive language software package. This system enables qualitative responses to be turned into quantitative data, without losing the subtleties of language. Reflexions hopes that the combination of the two will allow researchers to economically collect great numbers of depth interviews in a short period of time, as well as to achieve significant levels of insight.
