ESOMAR Appoints US Reps

June 26 2002

ESOMAR has, for the first time, appointed two representatives with joint responsibilities in the USA. They are Daphne Chandler and Michael Kenyon. Together they will represent ESOMAR in the USA, with Daphne active east of the Mississippi and Michael, west of the Mississippi.

Michael Kenyon has worked with companies such as Aulino/Baen Inc. and Decisions Center Inc. and was also President of Projections Inc. He is now Vice-President-Consulting at Gartner Primary Research in Portland Oregon, which specialises in technology-focused primary research among business-to-business and consumer markets.

Michael has said he aims to grow ESOMAR membership in the West Coast of the US by more than one-third. He believes that being based in Portland will enable him to 'proactively work with existing members, former members, prospective new members and others who should know about ESOMAR to make it clear that ESOMAR is reaching out to this part of the US.'

Michael said, 'I believe ESOMAR is the essential organisation for anyone interested in multi-country/international research. ESOMAR makes it possible for researchers to meet others who share their focus. It also builds confidence vis-à-vis the ICC/ESOMAR International Code and through its events, offers an opportunity to meet researchers from dozens of countries and hear presentations on a wide array of topics.'

Daphne has worked with companies such as with Home Testing Institute, Burke International and Research International. Since 1997, she has been President/Partner of Global Focus in Oyster Bay, New York, a full service agency specialising in qualitative and quantitative global research.

Daphne commented, 'In the past decade, international research in the US has become part of the mainstream. ESOMAR is the only organisation currently available to Americans which addresses the issues of global market research. I would like to help build ESOMAR's awareness and membership among research agencies in the US. This is especially important among those relatively new to global research clients as well as to global corporate clients who can be great contributors to the ongoing dialogue in this field.'
