JMM Australian Panels Acquired by Nielsen//Net Ratings

Nielsen//NetRatings has this week acquired, from AMR Interactive, both the Australian home and work measurement panels and existing Jupiter Media Metrix client contracts for Internet Audience Measurement.

This move further strengthens Nielsen//NetRatings' global leadership in Internet audience measurement and follows close on the heels of the purchase of Jupiter Media Metrix's European client contracts for Internet Audience Measurement, as well as Jupiter Media Metrix's Internet tracking software, patents and advertising tracking division AdRelevance in the US.

According to Mark Henning, Director of Sales and Marketing, 'The move is further reinforcement of our global leadership position in Internet audience research and demonstrates our continued commitment to the Australian Internet market. The purchase of the home and work panels will enable us to strengthen what is already the largest and highest quality Internet Audience Measurement panel in Australia. All Nielsen//NetRatings panels are recruited using consistent RDD methodology. By incorporating those former Jupiter Media Metrix panelists who were recruited using the same methods, we can consolidate the two panels without compromising our gold standard.'

Mr Henning added 'Nielsen//NetRatings' detailed demographic information and consistent methodology worldwide will give our newly acquired clients the ability to understand their consumers in real detail, as well as to assess potential clients, new markets, the viability of joint ventures, online advertising strategies and even mergers and acquisitions. In addition, because Nielsen//NetRatings provides this information on 17 countries from our panels of nearly 200,000 people worldwide, these companies will be able to assess their performance on a national and international scale, helping them to grow their businesses.'
