ESOMAR Annual Congress 2002

July 11 2002

ESOMAR is holding its 54th Annual Congress from 22 to 25 September in Barcelona with the conference returning to Spain for the first time in ten years. Entitled 'Consolidation or Renewal? From Research to Customer Insight', the congress will examine the impact of consolidation in business and include papers on important areas such as innovation, branding, segmentation, new technologies and market research methods.

Industry managers will discuss future directions, possible developments, characteristics, trends and the effects of all these on business and on the market research industry. In addition, the results of ESOMAR's 'Marco Polo' research project into current needs and the future of market research will be presented.

Speakers will include, José Luis Nueno, Professor of Marketing Management at IESE Business School of the University of Navarra, who will give a paper on Consolidation or Renewal?, Kevin Roberts, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide, who will talk about his innovative ideas on research and creativity and Simon Woodroffe, Founder and Owner of YO!Sushi Restaurants, who will speak about how he built up YO! and his creation of a solid team, including motivation, teamwork and inspirational management.

According to John Kelly, Chairman of ESOMAR, 'Enterprises are currently seeking out economies of scale as they merge, consolidate and organise their businesses. Despite this, all change brings with it new opportunities and goals. The research market structure has also changed greatly with new market leaders, mergers and takeovers. The annual ESOMAR congress is an excellent opportunity to talk about all this and get to know 1500 opinion leaders from 70 countries as well as the latest trends in marketing, advertising and research.'

The programme, available at www.esomar.nl , has been prepared by an international Committee made up of multinational companies and market research institutions.
