New NPD Directors

The NPD Group has this week announced the appointment of Mainak Mazumdar to the position of vice president, research and George Ziegler to the position of vice president, information technology.

Mazumdar joins NPD with unique qualifications and experience in the areas of analytics and panel data. In his new role, Mazumdar will be working closely with each business unit within NPD to ensure data integrity by providing input to standard calibrations and weighting methodologies. Most recently he was with Jupiter Media Metrix where he was responsible for global product development, management and research.

'Mainak has proven himself in this industry and we are happy to have him as part of the team.'

Ziegler also joins NPD from Jupiter Media Metrix and will manage three departments -- Database Management, Online Processing, and Retail Operations. 'These departments are critical components to the NPD business and we look to George to ensure their continued effectiveness,' said Denis Conway, chief information officer, The NPD Group. 'George will complement an already strong senior team.'

While at Jupiter Media Metrix, Zeigler served as vice president of engineering and information technology. He maintained overall responsibility for the real-time data collection, processing, delivery technologies and development of the corporate IT infrastructure. Previously, Zeigler worked for Reuters where he was a director responsible for client site systems architecture and development, and managing engineering teams located across Long Island, New York City and London.
