Speaker Lineup for Research2003

January 16 2003

The lineup of keynote speakers for the forthcoming Market Research Society conference, 'RESEARCH2003 -the thought leadership: revolution', has now been announced. The event takes place in Birmingham between 19 and 21 March.

Keynote speakers are confirmed as John Humphrys, the BBC journalist renowned for his incisive interviews on BBC Radio 4's Today programme and On the Record; Professor Nigel Piercy, a leading expert on strategic marketing from the Cranfield School of Management; Adam Morgan, founder of brand consultancy eatbigfish, and author of the best-selling book, Eating the Big Fish; and Cliff Dennett, former head of futurology at Orange and a leading figure in the development of wireless communications.

Between them, these keynote speakers will bring the knowledge gained from their years of experience to bear on a range of topical and controversial issues with relevance to the market research profession and the overriding theme of the three days - thought leadership.

Professor Nigel Piercy will provide an insightful examination of the demands expected to be made by marketers in the future and the moves the industry needs to make to meet these. Adam Morgan will draw on his own experience to examine the reality of thought leadership and demonstrate how to break through the accepted limits of thinking and reach new levels. Speaking on the importance of engaging employees and consumers with strategy to develop technological solutions for the future, Cliff Dennett will outline the techniques he uses for devising innovative scenarios and making them reality. Finally, the John Humphrys interview will explore the love/hate relationship the media has with market research.

Commenting on the speaker line up, Andy Dexter, the Conference Programme Chairman, said, 'We are delighted that four such high-calibre professionals have agreed to be our keynote speakers. Their sessions promise to be thought-provoking and entertaining and will no doubt arouse heated debate. The participation of these well-known figures is an excellent endorsement of the high regard in which the MRS Conference is held across professions and we anticipate considerable interest from delegates in what they each have to say.'
