Dream Conference: MRS Tries London At Last

June 6 2003

For those conference enthusiasts out there already planning next year's schedule of events, The Market Research Society in the UK has released the first details on its annual conference for 2004 entitled 'Welcome to the Dream Economy'. The conference, for the first time in its history, is to be held in central London.

The event will take place at The Barbican on 11 and 12 March 2004. By bringing it to the capital, the MRS expects to attract a more diverse audience than before with advertising agencies, PR agencies, Marketing Directors, and CEOs all having expressed a marked preference for a central London venue.

Building on the success of the 2003 event, which was widely regarded as a sea change in format and content alike, 'Welcome to the Dream Economy' will examine how market researchers and marketers are in the business of selling aspirations and emotions, not merely products and services. It will consider how research needs to access the consumer unconscious in order to drive and make sense of today's leading edge marketing activity.

Commenting on the fresh approach, Andy Dexter, Chair, RESEARCH 2004, said, 'This conference will showcase the latest practices in the marketing world, with a focus on creative thinking and the exchange of ideas. Clientside researchers will find it a particularly useful and practical event. The Barbican is an excellent venue, and the Central London location broadens its accessibility to the widest possible audience. A combination of leading-edge thinking and commercial opportunity will define RESEARCH 2004 - we are looking to continue a revolution at the heart of the industry.'

Jennie Beck, Chair, The MRS, added, 'The annual Conference of The MRS is the most important event in the market research industry's calendar and we are continually looking for ways to keep it thought-provoking and relevant to today's research and marketing professionals. The feedback from this year's Conference was very positive and the theme and format of RESEARCH 2004 looks set to build on that.'
