BMRA Business Effectiveness Awards 2003

June 9 2003

The British Market Research Association (BMRA) in the UK has launched the 'Awards for Business Effectiveness 2003', which have been developed to recognise best practice among member companies involved in the business of research. This is the latest in the series of the BMRA's 'Research Effectiveness' awards events.

There are four Award Categories:

  • The BMRA Award for Innovation - this award recognises MR companies who have sought to improve their service offering to customers and increase their competitiveness through innovative research products or services, systems or procedures. For example, this could be a new approach to quantitative or qualitative research designed to improve the value of the research results, accuracy and clarity of responses, value for money etc.
  • The BMRA Award for People Management - in MR, the quality of the people employed can make a big difference to the efficacy and value of a client's research strategy, perhaps more than in other areas of the communications industry. The award seeks to identify MR companies who demonstrate a proactive policy of developing and training its people and / or managing recruitment and retention of staff to increase the quality of service offered to its clients.
  • The BMRA Award for Quality - this is for companies who have demonstrated their commitment to the BMRA Quality Charter and to the service standards of the Market Research Quality Standards Association. The award identifies companies that have developed procedures to improve client/agency relationships, resources supply, accuracy of information, and data collection and processing.
  • The BMRA Business Effectiveness Award for the Best Agency of 2003 - this award is for agencies of all sizes, working for clients in all sectors. The winner will demonstrate excellence of business management in all areas that has directly contributed to the growth and improved performance of the company.

'These Awards acknowledge the increased professionalism and broader business involvement of research companies of all sizes,' explains Peter Jackling, Chairman, BMRA. 'As such, we anticipate that they will not only promote the benefits of market research, but will also offer a further mark of quality for research buyers.'

The winners of The BMRA Awards for Business Effectiveness will be announced at The Research Excellence and Effectiveness Awards Dinner, organised by the Market Research Society in association with the BMRA and sponsored by Marketing Week. The dinner will take place on 25 November at the London Mayfair Millennium Hotel.

'Our judging panel will include senior research buyers and figures from within the MR industry,' added Mr Jackling. 'We are also inviting companies to sponsor the individual Awards, which is a great opportunity for any company that wishes to be associated with the recognition of industry best practice. We are excited about the whole event, which will really put MR awards on the map, and we are very pleased to be co-operating with the MRS in this venture.'
