Asian / Australian MR Careers Evening

June 13 2003

With international career moves growing in popularity in the research community, specialist MR Recruiters Elizabeth Norman International (ENI) will be holding a fact-finding evening for established researchers and planners who are considering a move to Asia or Australia, on 3rd July at the IPA in Belgrave Square, London.

The event is a chance to meet like-minded people, many with first-hand experience of overseas MR work, and to take advantage of their professional and practical advice.

According to owner Liz Norman, who specialises in strategic researchers and planners and has placed people in every continent of the world, 'As brands and business become more and more global, so do careers. It's no coincidence that an international perspective and good quality first hand international experience are more valued than ever'.

'Working in Asia and Australia isn't for everyone, though - it's not all white linen suits and cocktails on the ex-pat circuit. In Asia in particular, getting to grips with a whole new cultural context, and a dramatically different marketplace makes work uniquely challenging. Not everyone has the personal resources to adapt, but those that do find their careers really fly!'

There are plenty of UK researchers successfully established in Australia, Asia and elsewhere. Sara Garcia, originally a founding partner of Fusion and latterly Managing Director of Latitude has recently been appointed as Director of Advanced Qualitative Research at cutting edge brand consultancy The Leading Edge in Sydney. Garcia's experience is a thoroughly positive one: 'A few short months here have given me a fresh perspective on work and life, and revitalised my energy and passion for the business... and of course it doesn't hurt to be able to go to the beach on the way home from work!'
