ASC Technology Award Nominees

The Association for Survey Computing has announced four nominees for the MRS / ASC Joint Award for Technology Effectiveness, which aims to promote excellence in creating software or technology aiding the practice and delivery of research.

Tim Macer, who is chairing the panel of judges, announced the short list at the closing event of the ASC's Fourth International Conference at the University of Warwick on 19 September. The nominees are:

  • Information Tools-Harmoni.A data analysis and investigative tool for consumers of research data which allows them to combine data from sources including respondents, sales and retail audit data, economic indicators, and others.
  • Open Air-AccessPoint. Hand-held CAPI interviewing which uses integrated GPRS-based cellular data comms to keep research organisations in constant touch with their interviewers in the field, across the Internet.
  • SPSS MR-Dimensions Data Model.A new open platform for research applications using a common metadata model, and incorporating an open development environment for building MR-specific applications.
  • Voxco-Interviewer VCC (Virtual Call Center).A Web based CATI system with full telephony integration, allowing interviewers access sophisticated telephony functions from many different locations via the Internet.
The judging panel will announce the overall winner of the award at the Research Excellence and Effectiveness Awards at the London Mayfair Millennium Hotel on 25 November 2003.
