New Omnibus Service in the UK

December 15 2003

UK research agency Marketing Sciences has just launched PanelWizard, an innovative new consumer omnibus service. PanelWizard mixes telephone and online interviewing meaning that costs per question can be reduced, whilst still reaching a nationally representative audience.

Also, unlike other omnibus services, the sample is totally flexible as companies can choose to interview any subgroup of the panel or to reduce the sample size to meet specific needs. Alternatively, using PanelWizard Exclusive it is possible to have access to a panel recruited to customers' specification and benefit from the same low costs.

'We are very excited about the launch of PanelWizard" said Keith Bates, MD of Marketing Sciences. 'We see is as a valuable addition to our portfolio of high quality research tools. PanelWizard offers a different way to conduct quality consumer research. We have had considerable interest from our clients for both PanelWizard and PanelWizard Exclusive".

The first results of research conducted on the new PanelWizard omnibus service show that 93% of the UK public agree with the new ban on using a mobile phone while driving. However many think it doesn't go far enough, with a majority of consumers being against other activities such as eating, smoking and putting on makeup.

1261 members of the PanelWizard panel were asked which activities should be illegal whilst driving. 91% thought putting on makeup should be banned, 82% wanted to prevent drivers reading maps, 64% thought eating and drinking, and 50% thought smoking should be illegal while driving a car. 44% thought the ban should be extended to the use of all mobile phones, not just hand held phones as at present.
