Brian SmithNew Jersey-based market research consultancy The Connell Group has appointed former Nielsen exec Brian Smith as Vice President for Strategic Insights and Consulting.

Founded in 2000, The Connell Group combines market research and brand strategy through use of a full suite of qual and quant capabilities alongside a range of consulting services. The firm has additional offices in Atlanta, San Francisco and Chicago, and provides global services throughout the US, Europe, Latin America and Asia.

At Nielsen, Smith most recently led the practice areas for marketing mix and pricing analytics in North America. He joined the company’s BASES division in 2001, launched a satellite office in Johannesburg, South Africa, and later led the BASES Market and Brand Advisor practice globally. He began his career as Market Research Manager at Procter & Gamble, and then held strategy and insights roles at Medsite.com and Interbrand.

At Connell Group, he will lead key client relationships and projects, while also establishing a Chicago office.
