US-based healthcare industry consultancy WPC has appointed Damian Mingle as Director of Data Science, to help clients extract insights from their customer behavioural data.

Mingle (pictured) joins from Hospital Corporation of America, where as an Analyst, he developed a patient readmission model using machine learning to predict and prevent unnecessary hospitalizations. Prior to this, he worked for Coventry HealthCare Inc, where he led a data analysis team of fourteen staff. Before moving to the healthcare sector, he was a Wealth Manager at Morgan Stanley Investment Management, and a Finance Manager at FreshStart HomeVantage.

In his new role, Mingle focuses on designing, developing, and deploying data-driven predictive models to solve business problems using data mining, machine learning, and statistical modelling. In a statement, WPC said that the appointment would further enhance its ability to provide data integration, data integrity, business intelligence, and predictive analytics.
