Smarter Remarketer

Dean AbbottRetail customer intelligence provider Smarter Remarketer has named co-founder Dean Abbott as Chief Data Scientist on a full-time basis.

The firm offers marketers a platform through which to gather data on their customers, then model that data in real-time to create automated marketing campaigns. This can include precise targeting of visitor segments and the triggering of appropriately-timed communications via multiple channels.

Abbott (pictured) helped set up Smarter Remarketer in 2010, but moved from part-time to full-time involvement earlier this month. He has a 25-year background in data mining and advanced predictive analytics, the past fifteen of which have been spent running his own data mining/research business, Abbott Analytics. Earlier in his career, Abbott served as Senior Research Scientist at predictive analytics, and text mining firm Elder Research. He recently authored ‘Applied Predictive Analytics’, and he is the co-author of ‘IBM SPSS Modeler Cookbook’.

In his new full-time role, Abbott is tasked with expanding the breadth and depth of Smarter Remarketer’s machine learning and predictive analytics efforts.
