Populus

July 18 2014

Tom AndersonFormer BBC exec Tom Anderson has joined research and consulting firm Populus as Research Manager.

Founded in 2003 by former Tory party staff Michael Simmonds, Andrew Cooper and Rick Nye, Populus is best known for its work in polling and political research, and was previously pollster to the Times newspaper. Last month, the firm launched a ‘Future Parliament Panel’, comprising a group of MPs who are considered well placed to retain their seats at the 2015 general election, combined with candidates hoping to win new seats.

Anderson (pictured) joins from the BBC Future Media team, where he worked as a Senior Research Executive on pan-BBC digital research projects. Prior to this he worked for the BBC Children’s Audiences team in Salford, where he was responsible for all digital research.

In his new role, Anderson will work alongside Head of Qualitative Research Andy Barker on a number of key accounts across the tech and media sectors in particular.

MD of Market insight Gary Muncaster comments: ‘Tom Anderson is another excellent addition to the business. He is a very talented researcher and brings a wealth of client side experience to the team. We’re delighted that he has decided to make the move to the agency world and to do so as part of the team here at Populus.’
