John AndersonTrade association POPAI (Point of Purchase Advertising International) has appointed John Anderson as Interim President, succeeding Richard Winter, who has accepted the post of CEO at Premier Store Fixtures.

Since its launch in 1936, POPAI has served as an international body for the retail industry. The association now comprises twenty chapters worldwide and serves more than 1,400 members internationally. POPAI has worked to set up new industry standards for measurement, technology and education, while its Digital Signage Group (DSG) arm provides industry information, profiles of proven solutions, market research and education to demonstrate the ability of digital signage solutions to inform, educate and influence.

Anderson (pictured) previously spent seventeen years at BP Oil Corporation, where he latterly worked as Director, US - Brand Conversion, having joined the firm in 1997 as Director, US Marketing and Merchandising. In addition, he served as Chairman of the POPAI Board of Directors for two terms.

Rich Carrigan, POPAI Chairman, says the organization’s Board wanted to appoint someone to provide adequate time for an appropriate search process to find the next full-time President, adding: ‘We’re extremely pleased to bring John in as our Interim President. He has an outstanding reputation within the industry after a long career with BP Oil. John’s experience in serving on the POPAI Board provides him with the background necessary to keep advancing the positive momentum of the association.’
