North of England-based online panel firm ResearchBods has hired Amanda Otley for its newly created role of Data Scientist.

ResearchBods, which was founded in 2011 by Robin Hilton and Jonathan Clough, offers specialist access panels, insight communities and digital solutions for research among children, ‘youth’ and families. Earlier in the year, the firm acquired Harrogate-based phone, panel, community and online qual specialist ClearStream Research.

Otley (pictured) joins from digital specialist Bloom Agency, where she worked for more than three years and latterly served as Data Analyst, matching emerging research to commercial problems. While in the role, she also helped develop the algorithms that form the basis of the firm’s social media analysis tool Whisper.

In her new role, Otley will work closely with the Client Services and Data teams, providing consultancy, advice and analysis, as well as working with clients directly. Commenting on the appointment, Clough said: ‘Amanda is an exciting new addition to the company which strengthens our understanding of data. Her skills and experience will enhance our ability to understand trends, themes and insights that occur across multiple datasets – including transactional data, mobile usage metrics, GPS and various forms of primary research.’
