Jo BaconIn the UK, newspaper publisher Reach Solutions has appointed former WPP exec Jo Bacon as Chief Marketing Officer, replacing Zoe Harris who has taken the position of CMO at GoCompare. Bacon will take up her new post on 28 January.

Reach's portfolio of newsbrands includes the Daily Mirror, Daily Express, Sunday People, Daily Record, and more than 100 regional titles including the Manchester Evening News, Birmingham Mail, Liverpool Echo and Bristol Post. Bacon (pictured) joins from WPP, where she latterly served as Client Lead, overseeing teams within Ogilvy, Wavemaker, and Hill & Knowlton for IAG Airlines. Prior to this, she was VP of Marketing at Viacom International's Channel 5 / MTV; Business Director and Business Development & Commercial Director at RKCR / Y&R UK; Board Account Director at Saatchi & Saatchi; and an Account Executive/Manager at DDB.

In her new role, Bacon will be responsible for marketing the Reach portfolio of brands, as well as group insight and the content solutions team, Invention. Andy Atkinson, Chief Revenue Officer, comments: 'Jo is the perfect fit to be our new CMO and Director of Invention. She brings a vast amount of customer-centric, brand and strategic knowledge to this crucial role.'
